What approvals does a municipal infrastructure project need in Ontario?
Municipal infrastructure projects typically require completion of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, followed by Regional Municipality Servicing and Corridor Approvals, Public Works and Engineering Approvals, and an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) from the MECP.
What studies and deliverables are typically required?
A typical file includes Pumping Station or Water Booster Station Design, Infrastructure Renewal Assessments, and a Municipal Class EA Project File.
How long does the approvals process take?
The Municipal Class EA process typically adds 6 to 12 months to the front end of a project. Following Class EA completion, design and agency approvals typically run 12 to 24 months.
